10 things about me
-
I used to live in Putney (like Mizzy). Now I live on Vancouver Island in Canada, with my husband, our son, and a Korean rescue dog called Luna.
-
My favourite Pipsqueak colour is sweet pea green.
-
I'm still a bit terrified of escalators and heights make my tummy wobble.
-
Three of my favourite people are my nephews, who I smushed all together to make Oli. My most favourite (and only) son will appear in Mizzy’s next adventure as a donkey.
-
My favourite ice-cream is a Raspberry Magnum.
-
My favourite breakfast cereal is Frosties.
-
My favourite detective is Miss Marple.
-
When I grow up I want to be a published author. Wait...does that mean I'm grown up now?
-
The very first thing I remember wanting to be is a bareback rider in a circus (but, you know, heights).
-
The mystery I'd really like to solve is what happened to the bag full of shells I left on the little train at Dungeness in August 1971.
10 things about Mizzy
-
I live in Putney in SW London, with my mum and dad.
-
My favourite Pipsqueak colour is dinky pink.
-
I'm scared of a lot of things, but escalators are THE WORST.
-
I love all of my family (even Great Uncle Raymond), but Oli is my favourite (don't tell Niko).
-
My least favourite person is Judy Mitcham (but Mum says I still have to be nice to her).
-
My favourite breakfast cereal is Shreddies.
-
My favourite detective is Rachel Bailey, from Scott and Bailey.
-
My favourite ice cream is a ninety-nine (with two flakes please).
-
When I grow up I want to be Rachel Bailey. If I can't be her, I'll be an even better detective.
-
The best mystery I've solved so far is working out who killed Great Aunt Jane... (all on my own, with a tidgy bit of help from Oli).
Fun Stuff
Nice stuff people say...
I'm excited that the main character has Down Syndrome. I really enjoyed the exciting story about Mizzy the marvellous. I hope this book helps people learn that children with Down Syndrome don't need to be babied.
Heidi Crowter, Disability Rights Advocate
This story is full of inclusion, possibility and believing in yourself. I relate to Mizzy in so many ways - our curiosity, our love for problem solving, and we both have big dreams. We also happen to have an extra chromosome in common, and I love that it's the least interesting thing about her!
Mizzy knows who she is and she keeps following her path, even when others don't think she can.
Mizzy IS marvelous!
Madison Tevlin,Actor, Model, Broadcaster & Advocate
Young readers will adore this unique and endearing new sleuth.
Kenneth Oppel, Author of Silverwing
This is the best book ever.
My Mum
I loved it. It was fast-paced, tightly plotted and kept me guessing till the last minute. In Mizzy, Claire has created an utterly unique and instantly lovable new detective. I was rooting for her every step of the way and I love that a character like her has been put front and centre, and with such compassion and believability.
Tom Vaughan, author of Hercules, The Diary of a (Sort of) Hero
A super detective story full of sleuthing, surprising twists, school projects, and shocking family secrets. Mel Taylor-Bessent, author of Race to Imagination Island
